Chris Osborne is an Australian community activist with most of his activities centred on Lake Macquarie, NSW. ==Background== Born and raised in Belmore South in South Western Sydney in the 1950s and '60s, the eldest from a working-class family with father Bruce and mother Barbara and siblings Vickii, Mark and Cathy. Christopher Rodney Osborne was born on November 16, 1952, in Darlinghurst, NSW, Australia. He attended Belmore South Public School and Kingsgrove North High School until 1970. Chris became politically aware during Australia's involvement in the Vietnam War and greatly admired US President John F Kennedy. After leaving high school, Chris studied Food Technology at Hawkesbury Agricultural College in Richmond, NSW. Politically active on campus, Chris was a member of the student representative council and a college rep for the Australian Union of Students. He joined the Richmond Branch of the ALP and campaigned on campus during Gough Whitlam's successful 1972 election campaign.
